As long as I can remember, I've always enjoyed the process of making things. If you were to ask my mother, she would say that it all began with my tendency to make a mess. Over time, I began creating rustic furniture using reclaimed materials, architectural remnants, and items found in the forest. Eventually, drawn to color and three-dimensional objects, I started oil painting and began carving. Combining these two modalities has culminated in what I call a form of folk art.
I have had no formal training in the arts, but have scoured antique shops and journals, and learned from the works of others to ultimately land where I am. The bottom line is that it has been an enjoyable and relaxing journey where, unlike my career as a surgeon which demanded precision, my creations do not. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
